Odijk – Integrating Leveling and InSAR Networks for the Monitoring of Subsidence Due to Gas Extraction

چکیده

Although leveling is a very precise technique for geodetic deformation monitoring, it is quite expensive and timeconsuming. InSAR is a relatively new technique for precise deformation monitoring and has some important advantages compared to leveling: the high spatial resolution of the data and the relatively low costs of the technique. In this article both techniques are considered for the estimation of subsidence due to gas extraction. Simulations demonstrate that although InSAR has the capability to provide sub-cm accuracy for this type of deformation monitoring, an integration with leveling is the best choice as long as InSAR is not at a fully reliable level.

Application of Displacement Map Produced by Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar Technique in Height Datum Determination in the Subsidence Area

Damages due to subsidence such as destruction of watering system and agricultural fertile soil, wells increasing, damage to the roads, bridges and high ways and disordering in the water and gas supplying usually are irreparable and costly. As a huge amount bench marks of height network of Iran are placed in the subsidence area, changing their heights is a challenge for NCC. In this study, a new...

Monitoring of Subsidence along Jingjin Inter-City Railway with High-Resolution TerraSAR-X MT-InSAR Analysis

Synthetic Aperture Radar Interferometry (InSAR), widely applied for the monitoring of land subsidence, has the advantage of high accuracy and wide coverage. High-resolution SAR data offers a chance to reveal impressive details of large-scale man-made linear features (LMLFs) with Multi-temporal InSAR (MT-InSAR) analysis. Despite these advantages, research validating high-resolution MT-InSAR resu...

On the Use of Point Target Characteristics in the Estimation of Low Subsidence Rates Due to Gas Extraction in Groningen, the Netherlands

The subsurface of the north-eastern part of the Netherlands contains large gas reservoirs that have been taken into production since the early 1960s. The resulting subsidence has been precisely and reliably estimated using measurements from repeated leveling campaigns and is now for the first time unambiguously observed using PS-InSAR. The subsidence rates are small (< 1 cm/year) and the PS den...

Monitoring of land subsidence due to overexploitation of groundwater using PS-InSAR in the region in hamadan proviance, Iran

Land subsidence is one of the environmental hazards that has been less well-regarded by human societies due to lower human casualties. However, the earth subsidence causes irreparable damage to the urban areas and adjacent plains over time. In this study, Permanent Scatterer (PS) method has been used to monitor land subsidence in the region in hamadan proviance and its adjacent plains in west o...

Monitoring subsidence rates along road network by persistent scatterer SAR interferometry with high-resolution TerraSAR-X imagery

Ground subsidence is one of the key factors damaging transportation facilities, e.g., road networks consisting of highways and railways. In this paper, we propose to apply the persistent scatterer synthetic aperture radar interferometry (PS-InSAR) approach that uses highresolution TerraSAR-X (TSX) imagery to extract the regional scale subsidence rates (i.e., average annual subsidence in mm/year...
